You, with your switching sides and your walk-by lies and your humiliation
You, have pointed out my flaws again as if I don't already see them
I'll walk with my head down trying to block you out 'cause I'll never impress you
I just wanna feel okay again. xoxo- TSWIFT
I came across this song when the Taylor Swift Album first came out last year. At that point in my life I wasn't the happiest person around due to someone who I was having an on-going problem with. This song made me feel happy about the situation and now I've come across it again. When I was growing up and I would see people get picked on I was never the one who was getting hurt. I did do my fair share of being mean to certain girls but I never passed the teasing and joking around level. The older I've become the more people I come across that have been hurt and ever scarred from teasing and picking on in earlier years.
So why do we do it? It's not a thing that only certain people do, everyone's done it. EVERYONE is a victim of someone else's picking and pulling of their heart. When you make fun of someone or start rumors about them, it's not just their heart which you are continuously stabbing, it's their pride and their self-confidence. When people are younger it's easier to forgive and forget what has been said, but unfortunately the older we get the more bitter people are and the less forgiving they are. If we all had hearts like our children do then we would never have wars or battles. All wrong-doings would be forgiven over a hug and trade of Oreos Sweet and simple.
Unfortunately life is a little more complicated once you leave High School. Some things are better kept in your head and somethings are better left unsaid. When did the world stop being a loving fun place and turn out to be a place filled with hatred and beating out the "weaker" ones? If being sweet, innocent, and loving to everyone only leads to getting hurt and manipulated then I'll be the first one to stand up and say that we should all turn our hearts to stone and may the best man win; because in a world filled with so much hatred, it's better to be on your own side and happy then to be on a side where your name will only be covered with filth. You chose who you want to be with and sometimes being alone will lead you to a better place.
A friend told me yesterday that instead of being sad about how people change and how they hurt you, you should instead be thankful towards God for pushing these people away from you. In the end, it's all good.
